Chairman Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, stated in a letter to Trump's lawyer on Wednesday that "the Committee's Report can no longer pursue the precise facts covered by the subpoena in light of the near closure of our inquiry." Consequently, Thompson said, "Through this letter, I hereby formally withdraw the subpoena issued to former President Trump, and advise you that he is no again mandated to comply with or provide records in answer to said subpoena.

In October, the committee served a subpoena on Trump requesting records and testimony for its inquiry into the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. In an effort to overturn the subpoena, Trump sued the committee in response. As its work comes to an end, the committee has already withdrawn a number of subpoenas pertaining to more witnesses.

On his social media platform, Trump seized the opportunity to comment on the withdrawal of the subpoena, saying: "They probably did so because they knew I did nothing wrong, or they were about to lose in Court." The committee concluded its inquiry by referring four different criminal accusations against Trump to the Justice Department. However, the panel's recommendations are not legally binding.

Additionally, the Justice Dept has already been investigating January 6 and attempts to rig the 2020 election as part of its investigation into Trump.

The House committee's spokeswoman declined to comment.

No longer ‘justification’ left for Title 42-

The Biden administration asked a delay of the contentious Title 42 health project's expiration until after Christmas in its Tuesday appeal to the Supreme Court, arguing that the measure had outlived its usefulness.

In response to Chief Justice John Roberts' Monday order keeping the policy in place after 19 GOP-led states filed a "eleventh-hour" emergency appeal, Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar wrote, "The government accepts that the end of the Title 42 orders will likely lead to disruption and a temporary increase in unlawful border crossings."

The government makes no effort to minimize how serious that issue is, added Prelogar. "However, extending indefinitely a public-health measure that everyone now acknowledges has outlived its public-health justification cannot be the solution to that immigration problem.

Prelogar argued in the 44-page report that the states had the wrong idea to maintain the policy in place "as a transitory immigration-control measure.

The solicitor general wrote: "Applicants urge this Court to compel the government to continue relying on now-obsolete public-health orders as the Nation's de facto immigration policy rather than returning to the immigration system prescribed by Congress."

The Center for Prevention and Control adopted Title 42 in March 2020, allowing for the summary deportation of immigrants to Mexico on the pretext that they'd spread COVID-19. Since then, about 2.5 million migrants have been turned away based on this policy without having their asylum claims heard.

All nationalities were subject to the restrictions, but they were disproportionately imposed on inhabitants of the nations that Mexico had agreed to take back: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and, more recently, Venezuela.

RBI will add new UPI payment features that permit multiple payments.

The new UPI feature is anticipated to make investing in securities including making a payment for internet transactions easier.

Shaktikanta Das, governor of the RBI, revealed a new feature for platforms using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) that would permit multiple debits. Users will be able to block monies in their accounts using the single-block and multiple debits feature that the RBI will provide. Customers can currently set up recurring payments using the UPI AutoPay feature, however merchants can only process a single debit to collect money. With the new function, the vendor can make many payments to the permitted account

The functionality, according to the governor, will also be useful when buying government securities through the RBI's retail direct scheme. He continued by saying that the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will receive specific instructions on how to carry out the improvement. Mr. Das also disclosed that the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) would now cover all payments & collections.

According to Mr. Das, BBPS does not currently have a capability to handle nonrecurring transactions or specific collection needs, even if they are recurrent in nature. As just a result, payments for business services, education costs, taxes, and rent are not covered by the platform. The new system will increase the number of people that can access the BBPS platform.

Fears that Pelé, a Brazilian football legend, is receiving palliative care led to his hospitalisation.

Pelé, a legendary player in Brazilian football, was expected to stay in the hospital where he has been since Tuesday because of a lung infection. He is receiving antibiotic treatment, the Albert Einstein Hospital stated in a statement on Friday.
